Work with ECOs in GitMCloud

GitMCloud is a first-class participant in the ECO workflow — so reviewers in quality or manufacturing who don't have SolidWorks can open, approve, reject, release, and cancel change orders from the browser. For the concepts, see Understand revisions and ECOs.

Open the ECO tab

Sign in and connect to your repository, then open the ECO tab. It lists change orders, filtered by:

  • Awaiting me — ECOs waiting for your approval,
  • Mine — ECOs you opened,
  • All.

Open a new ECO

  1. Click + New ECO.
  2. Enter a title, pick a reason code, and add free-text details.
  3. Add approvers — search the team and add them as chips (at least one; all must approve).
  4. Check the affected files (at least one). A soft warning flags a part or assembly selected without its drawing, or the reverse — it doesn't block you.
  5. Click Create & submit. There is no draft — the ECO is submitted immediately, its affected files freeze, and the approvers are notified.

Drive the workflow

Open an ECO from the list:

  • Approve / Reject — if you're a named approver and the ECO is In review. Approval is unanimous; the ECO becomes Approved only when everyone approves. A Reject is final (status Rejected).
  • Submit for release — the requestor, once the files have been changed and checked in (in GitM). GitMCloud verifies every file has a new version, then the files await release.
  • Release all — a releaser stamps every affected file's next Rev at once and the ECO closes.
  • Send back — a releaser returns the files to the editable state with a comment.
  • Cancel — the requestor or a releaser abandons the ECO; the files unfreeze with no new Rev (blocked while a file is checked out).

Files under an active ECO show an ECO badge in Files — amber (pending), blue (editable), or green (awaiting release).
